AIR CONDITIONER MAINTENANCE

AIR CONDITIONER MAINTENANCE

If you want to get the longest life out of your air conditioner, maintenance is absolutely crucial. While there are some aspects of maintaining your air conditioner that are easy enough to take care of on your own, only a professional can address all the checkpoints.

At Donley Service Center, we look at several key elements when we perform air conditioner maintenance.

AIR CONDITIONER FILTER

Replacing or cleaning the air filter is the most important part of the air conditioner maintenance routine. Fortunately, it’s a job that’s pretty easy to do on your own. Some filters are reusable and need to be cleaned periodically. Others are disposable and need to be replaced. In Arizona, where air conditioners are in constant use during the summer months, disposable filters will need to be replaced more often.

Coils and Coil Fins

It’s a good idea to have your evaporator and condenser coils inspected every year or so. Over time, coils can collect dirt, which reduces the ability to function properly. Cleaning the coils should be left to a professional.

There are also aluminum fins on evaporator and condenser coils. These fins are easily bent and could potentially block air flow. A certified technician can put the fins back into working shape with special tools as part of an air conditioner maintenance routie.

REFRIGERANT LEVELS

If you hire a Donley to perform your air conditioner maintenance, our technicians will also check to make sure your levels of refrigerant are correct. If it’s low, we’ll do some tests to see if there’s a leak somewhere. If any refrigerant needs to be released, we’ll capture it according to federal standards. Releasing refrigerant into the air is illegal.

OTHER AIR CONDITIONER MAINTENANCE

Having a thorough air conditioner maintenance performed will also involve checking the duct work for leaks. The technician should also perform a thorough inspection of your heating and cooling system, tightening any loose fittings and making sure motors are oiled and belts are in good working shape.
