WHAT TYPES OF AIR CONDITIONERS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY?

AUG 25, 2015

There’s a lot to take into consideration when shopping for a new air conditioner. Not only do you need a unit that will keep you cool, but it also needs to be efficient and save you money over the long term.

So how do you know if the type of air conditioner you are considering is the right one? We’ve come up with a few pointers to help you make shopping a little easier.

SEER Rating

The term SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. This rating is used to measure how much energy an air conditioner uses to keep a home or office cool. Today’s air conditioning units are required to have a SEER rating of 14 or higher. Basically, the higher the rating, the more efficient a unit is. Central air conditioners range from SEER ratings of 14 all the way up to 28.

The Government’s Energy Star designation is also a good indication that a unit will be efficient. The Department of Energy uses the SEER rating as well as another measure called EER to determine which units will receive the Energy Star endorsement.

Air Conditioner Size

Having the right size air conditioner is another important part of keeping your energy bill down. If it’s too small, the air conditioner will not be able to cool you home properly. If it’s too big, the unit will not do an adequate job of dehumidifying.

Air Conditioner Brand

Of course, one of the most important things to consider is what brand of air conditioner to buy. One brand we carry and frequently recommend is American Standard. That’s because these air conditioners have a proven track record of efficiency and reliability. Choosing this brand means you are making the most out of your investment.

Warranty

The type of air conditioner you choose for your Mesa home should also include a warranty. At Donley Service Center, you’ll not only receive a warranty on the air conditioning unit itself, but on the workmanship as well. As a fully licensed and bonded company, we guarantee the quality of our work. In the rare occasion that repairs are necessary after we install an air conditioner, you’ll rest easy knowing the work and parts are covered.
